Spam Filters
Find out more about spam filters - what they are, the way they work and how to create one.
A spam filter is a software app that is installed on a POP3/IMAP mail server and keeps track of all incoming email messages in order to obstruct any unwelcome ones from entering a given inbox. Several instances of such emails would be: offers for pills or cash, fake bank statements or attachments that contain malicious code sent with the idea to infect your computer. Spam filters usually check the content of an email message and if they come across particular keywords or other suspicious content, they either erase the email or deliver it to the Spam/Junk folder instead of the Inbox folder. Certain web hosts mix their own email filters with up-to-the-minute databases from spam-monitoring organizations, so as to ensure better safety for their customers. Such databases contain patterns, mail server IPs and other info about spam messages recently uncovered by these organizations.

Spam Filters in Shared Website Hosting
If you get a
shared website hosting plan from us and if you use our email services, you’ll be able to activate anti-spam protection for any of the mailboxes that you create from the Email Manager section of your Hepsia Control Panel. With just several clicks, you can select between five different protection levels. In case you start getting spam, you can begin with the lowest one and then slowly increase the level till you stop receiving spam. We use one of the best and most popular email filters available on the market called SpamAssassin. It checks the header and the body of each and every email that you receive and determines a spam score, based on which it either deletes a certain message or allows it to reach your inbox. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel will also permit you to activate custom spam filters and either erase undesired emails or forward them to a 3rd-party email address like spam@domain.com where you can check them once again at a later time.
